Android 11 Beta was released on the 10th of June 2020 for developers but is available on some selected Android devices like the Google Pixel though it's not advisable to install this OS just yet as its a beta version meaning it's still under development.
Though this is a trial version it has some really cool feature, below are some of the new features I find really cool.
1. Scheduled Dark Mode
Android 11 is reported to have the ability to schedule when your Dark Mode is activated on your device. You can choose to customize the times you'd prefer to have your Dark Mode automatically turned on or leave it for the device to shift between Dark and Light Mode based on sunrise/sunset according to your time zone. I really love the feature because it let's you have an automated Dark Mode without having to always switch it on yourself.
2. Chat Head Bubbles
If you're familiar with Facebook Messenger App you'd be used to having a floating chatbchat when you exit the app. This feature has finally creeped into other applications as Google informed developers to start using bubbles API, so once Android 11 ship sails many apps would start using it.
3. One-Time Permission
In an attempt to improve security of Android devices Google has introduced an One-Time Permission which reduces the permission request repetition of apps on the later versions of Android. We're not sure how the feature work, if it's a One-Time thing where you have to reinstall the App to change it's permission or some other way.
No matter how the feature ends up functioning we know that Google is working hard to improve security and privacy on Android platforms.
4. Screen Recording
Some Android phone vendors have added this feature to their Custom Android OS but the feature hasn't officially been released on Android original OS until now. Though it briefly appeared in the early development stages of Android 10 but vanished. We hope this feature makes it to launch date
5. Share Menu Pinning
Have you ever gotten frustrated looking for a particular app in the Share Menu when you want to share a file? Do you have to scroll down before being able to find your favorite app to share file to? If yes, then this feature saves you a lot of time by giving you the chance to pin your favorite contact in your favorite app which you share files with the most to on your Share Menu so you don't have to always search before sharing any file.
We're hoping this feature makes it to the final release though.
5. Airdrop-Style File sharing
I must admit, this is the most exciting feature to me because since iOS released it's iOS Airdrop I've waited for Android to release its own version.
This additional feature was announced in the Android 11 Developers release note and it is also indicated the issues developers are currently having with the feature. I really cannot wait to test this feature out
6. Resume-on-Boot
There's one more new feature coming to the Android 11 second developer preview, which is called Resume On Boot. With this addition, any time an Android 11 device reboots after an overnight OTA update, it will be able to immediately access Credential Encrypted storage so it can start receiving messages right away.
Android 11 seems to be really interesting and no one really knows how many of this feature would stay and how many more would be added, what we know for sure is that Google is really trying to give users the best experience on their platforms
